Where it came from
The LEGO Friends Dog Parlor, released under set number 562205-1, belongs to the early years of the Friends theme, which LEGO introduced in 2012 to offer a different building experience focused on lifestyle and narrative play. This specific set was designed to complement the modular Heartlake City layout, featuring a compact workspace tailored for pet grooming. The aesthetic leans heavily into the signature pastel color palette and specific mini-doll scale that define the Friends line, emphasizing social interaction and domestic scenes rather than the traditional action-adventure themes common in other LEGO sets of the time.
The design intent behind the Dog Parlor was to provide a manageable, accessible entry point for children to expand their imaginative dioramas. LEGO designers aimed to balance playability with structural charm, incorporating specialized elements like brushes, grooming accessories, and a dedicated pet figure. As part of the broader Friends collection, the set was received as a successful example of character-driven building, helping to diversify the brand's appeal and establish the enduring popularity of the Heartlake City series within the toy market.
