Where it came from
The LEGO Duck, set 2130-1, was released in 2011 as a tribute to one of the earliest toys produced by the LEGO Group. The original wooden duck, designed by Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1935, served as a cornerstone of the company’s transition from a woodworking shop to a toy manufacturer, embodying the company's commitment to quality and play before the invention of the iconic plastic brick.
This 2011 commemorative model was released as part of the LEGO Group's internal 80th-anniversary celebrations and was primarily distributed to employees rather than through general retail channels. The design cleverly replicates the silhouette and the signature opening-beak mechanism of the wooden original using standard LEGO elements, capturing a piece of corporate history for those who contributed to the brand’s enduring legacy.
