Where it came from
Released in the early 1990s, the Duplo Tubes set (5025-1) was designed as an educational expansion for the Duplo system, focusing on kinetic play and the principles of cause and effect. During this period, Lego expanded its preschool offerings to include more specialized components that allowed children to construct vertical systems, moving beyond simple stacking blocks to explore how objects like balls move through space.
The set consists of modular, curved, and straight tube segments designed to be compatible with standard Duplo bricks, allowing for the construction of elaborate marble-run style tracks. It was received as a versatile developmental toy that encouraged early engineering and spatial reasoning skills, remaining a highly regarded component in early childhood education environments due to its durability and intuitive design.
