Epic Dragon Battle

The Epic Dragon Battle set, released in 2012 as part of the Ninjago: Rise of the Snakes arc, was designed to be the definitive centerpiece of the theme's second year. It depicts the Ultra Dragon, a four-headed beast formed by the combination of four elemental dragons, intended to confront the Great Devourer. The design team sought to capture the high-stakes fantasy narrative of the television series, emphasizing modularity and scale to satisfy collectors looking for an expansive, action-oriented build.

Upon its release, the set was noted for its technical complexity and the inclusion of exclusive minifigures, such as the Golden Ninja Lloyd. It served as a pivotal moment in the Ninjago line, signaling a shift toward larger, more intricate play experiences that balanced display potential with robust features. The reception was generally favorable among enthusiasts of the theme, who appreciated how effectively the set translated the dramatic on-screen climax into a physical, multi-faceted structure.
