ETX Alien Strike

Released in 2005 under the short-lived LEGO Alien Conquest-adjacent 'ETX' theme, this set represents a period of creative experimentation for the company as they explored space-themed narratives outside of the established Space Police or Classic Space lines. The set features a rugged, industrial-style vehicle designed to capture the aesthetic of high-stakes planetary defense, emphasizing mechanical play features and a distinct green-and-grey color palette that separated it from the sleeker designs found in concurrent themes.

The design process for the ETX line was rooted in the early 2000s desire to create more modular, action-oriented sets that prioritized durability and vehicle-based conflict. While the theme did not achieve the longevity of mainstays like Star Wars or Technic, the Alien Strike set is remembered by collectors for its unique minifigure head-prints and the specific construction style of its wheeled chassis, which served as a precursor to the more complex vehicle engineering seen in later science fiction sets.
