Fawkes, Dumbledore's Phoenix

Released in 2021 as part of the LEGO Harry Potter theme, set 76394-1 depicts Fawkes, the iconic phoenix belonging to Albus Dumbledore. This buildable display model was designed to mirror the aesthetic established by the 2020 Hedwig set, focusing on a mechanical wing-flapping feature activated by a rear crank. The design utilizes a combination of traditional system bricks and Technic elements to capture the articulated movement and fiery color palette associated with the phoenix's appearance in the film adaptations.

The set was introduced during a period when the LEGO Group was expanding its portfolio of display-oriented models targeting adult builders and fans of the Wizarding World franchise. By focusing on a character-specific creature rather than a standard building or minifigure-heavy scene, the design team aimed to provide an engaging kinetic building experience. Upon its debut, the set was noted for its distinct departure from play-scale sets, favoring a sculptural approach that prioritized shelf presence and the tactile enjoyment of its internal gear mechanisms.
