Fire Plane

Released in 2015 as part of the LEGO Technic line, the Fire Plane (42040) was designed as a sophisticated mid-sized set that emphasized the mechanical functionality characteristic of the Technic theme. It was developed to simulate the real-world operation of an aerial firefighting aircraft, incorporating features such as a functional water-dropping mechanism and articulated landing gear. The set was created to appeal to both younger builders and adult fans interested in aviation engineering and realistic gear-driven functions.

The model was designed to offer a robust build experience, focusing on the integration of linear actuators and gear systems to perform its play features. Upon its release, it was well-received by the community for its successful adaptation of a complex aerial vehicle into the Technic building system, balancing aesthetic design with the technical play value that fans of the series expect. Its design remains a notable example of the mid-2010s era of Technic, emphasizing versatility through its B-model configuration as a jet plane.
