Where it came from
The Forest Police Station, set 4440-1, was released in 2012 as part of the Lego City Forest Police subtheme. This line was introduced to diversify the city police concept by moving operations from an urban environment to a rugged, wilderness setting. The design focused on integrating natural elements like pine trees and rock formations with the functional aesthetic of a base of operations, incorporating features such as a hidden compartment for a bear and a detachable transport van.
The set was designed by the Lego City creative team, who sought to blend traditional law enforcement play with outdoor adventure tropes. It received a positive reception from the building community for its unique color palette—utilizing dark green and brown tones—and its inclusion of specialized minifigures like the forest police officer and the bear. It remains a notable entry in the City line for successfully transitioning the police theme into a specialized environment.
