Where it came from
Released in 2016, the LEGO Friends Build Your Own Adventure set (11908-1) is part of a series designed to blend traditional building instructions with narrative storytelling. Unlike standard theme sets that focus on specific locations, this release was intended to inspire creative play by pairing a small selection of bricks with an illustrated guidebook that encourages users to construct custom models within the Heartlake City universe.
The book included in this set features instructions for a variety of small-scale builds and prompts, emphasizing the 'Friends' aesthetic of bright color palettes and lifestyle-oriented play. As a product of the mid-2010s, it reflects a shift toward interactive media in the toy industry, aimed at bridging the gap between guided building experiences and open-ended play for younger fans of the line.
