Frost

The Frost set, released under the Technic Slizer line in 1999, emerged as part of an experimental era for the brand. Known as Throwbots in North America, these figures were designed to bridge the gap between traditional brick-based construction and the action figure market. The concept focused on a modular system that allowed for limb interchangeability and a gear-based projectile launcher, reflecting a pivot toward more dynamic, play-oriented sets during a period of intense financial restructuring for the manufacturer.

The design of Frost features a distinctive icy aesthetic, utilizing translucent blue elements to represent the character's thematic alignment with cold environments. The figure was crafted by the company's internal design team, who aimed to create a cohesive universe through color-coding and shared building techniques. While the Slizer theme itself was eventually succeeded by the more robust Bionicle franchise, the design language established by sets like Frost remains a significant milestone in the evolution of the company’s action-figure-integrated construction systems.
