Where it came from
Gertrude Goat the painter was released in 1999 as part of the LEGO Fabuland theme, which was originally introduced in 1979 to bridge the gap between Duplo and standard system bricks. The theme was characterized by its unique animal-headed minifigures and modular, brightly colored building components designed to encourage imaginative role-play among younger children.
The figure features a distinct molded goat head and a dedicated torso piece, reflecting the character-driven aesthetic that defined the Fabuland series. The set was created to provide a creative, artistic persona for the goat character, consistent with the theme's focus on storytelling and community interaction, and it remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors of late 20th-century toy design.
