Where it came from
The LEGO DUPLO Giant Tower, set 10557, was released in 2013 as part of the broader DUPLO Creative Building line. It was designed specifically for younger children, aged 18 months to five years, to encourage early motor skill development and basic spatial awareness. The set emphasizes open-ended play rather than rigid instructions, featuring large, chunky bricks in vibrant primary colors to ensure both safety and ease of manipulation for toddlers.
The aesthetic of this set follows the classic DUPLO design language, focusing on simplicity and durability. By providing a generous quantity of bricks and specialized elements like rounded towers and windows, LEGO intended to offer a foundation for creative expression. Upon its release, it was well-received by educators and parents for its pedagogical value, serving as a staple in preschool environments for its ability to foster collaborative building experiences among young children.
