Where it came from
The Gingerbread Man (71002-6) was released in 2013 as part of the LEGO Minifigures Series 11 collection. This blind-bag series followed the established tradition of offering unique, character-driven figures that draw inspiration from folklore, pop culture, and original concepts. The inclusion of the Gingerbread Man represented a playful take on classic holiday iconography, designed to provide a whimsical, seasonally-themed addition to the expansive LEGO minifigure ecosystem.
The figure features a distinct molded headpiece that replicates the texture and aesthetic of a baked cookie, complete with printed icing details that mimic traditional confectionery patterns. The design was praised by the collector community for its charm and the novelty of its specialized head mold, which marked a departure from standard headgear. It remains a recognized highlight of the Series 11 set, often sought after for its thematic appeal during the winter holiday season.
