Where it came from
Released in 2014 as part of the inaugural LEGO Minifigures: The Simpsons Series, this figure represents Abe Simpson, the patriarch of the iconic animated family. The collection was produced to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary, marking the first time the long-running series received its own dedicated line of character-specific figures. The design team aimed to capture the character's signature hunched posture and grumpy disposition, utilizing a custom molded headpiece to accurately translate his animated appearance into physical form.
The figure features intricate printing that reflects his standard attire: a tan cardigan, blue trousers, and slippers. As with other entries in this series, the design process involved balancing the distinct aesthetic of the show's animation style with the rigid geometry of the minifigure system. Upon its release, the series was well-received by fans of both LEGO and the television program, particularly for the high level of detail achieved on the small scale of the characters.
