Where it came from
Released in 2013 as part of the Lego City Police subtheme, Helicopter Arrest 60009 was designed to capture the high-stakes action characteristic of the City line. It features a helicopter and a high-speed pursuit vehicle, intended to provide children with a play set that mimics classic cinematic police chase sequences. The set reflects the design philosophy of the era, which prioritized functional play features, such as the hook-and-winch mechanism, over intricate display-model complexity.
The set was received as a staple of the 2013 City collection, favored for its inclusion of three minifigures—a police officer, a pilot, and a crook—alongside a robust selection of vehicles. Its design aesthetic follows the established Lego City visual language, utilizing bright primary colors and durable construction techniques. Like many sets in the Police theme, it was marketed through television advertising and catalogs to emphasize its versatility and role-play potential within an expanding urban landscape.
