Where it came from
The 5905-1 Hidden Treasure set was released in 1997 as part of the LEGO system, designed as a supplemental pack that fell outside of the traditional Castle or Pirates themes. It was conceived as a small-scale, accessible build aimed at providing versatile elements, including a miniature chest, a skeleton minifigure, and assorted accessories that allowed builders to add character to existing display dioramas or larger playsets.
The design of the set focuses on the 'adventurer' aesthetic popular in late 90s LEGO sets, utilizing a classic skeleton figure that had become a staple for dark, atmospheric builds of the era. While it did not feature the complex mechanisms of larger sets, it was well-received by collectors for its utility as a 'parts pack,' offering an efficient way to acquire specific aesthetic pieces without the need to purchase a full-sized vessel or fortress.
