Ice Cube Tray

The 850918-1 ice cube tray is a functional utility object released as part of a miscellaneous corporate promotion series in the mid-1980s. Designed to provide a branded kitchen accessory for household consumers, it reflects the era's trend of extending corporate identity into everyday domestic products. The minimalist design prioritizes stackability and durability, consistent with the plastic housewares production standards of that time.

The item was produced during a period when branded merchandise served as a primary strategy for increasing brand awareness through tactile interaction in the home. The design, characterized by its utilitarian shape and specific molded grid pattern, was intended to withstand frequent freezing and thawing cycles. Upon its release, it was regarded as a standard functional inclusion rather than a design statement, though it has since gained recognition among collectors of mid-century corporate ephemera.
