Where it came from
The Ice Tank (set 70616) was released in 2017 as part of the LEGO Ninjago Movie tie-in line. Designed to capture the aesthetic of Zane’s elemental vehicle from the film, the set features a tank-tread design capable of rotating for simulated ice-drilling maneuvers. It reflects the broader creative shift in the Ninjago theme during this period, where vehicle designs moved toward more complex, cinematic interpretations of traditional elemental themes.
The model was designed to integrate both play features and display value, utilizing a distinct color palette of white, light blue, and trans-clear elements to emphasize its icy theme. Upon its release, it was noted by the building community for its functional tread system and the inclusion of exclusive minifigures, which helped define the visual identity of the Ninjago movie collection.
