Jungle Mobile Lab

The Jungle Mobile Lab, released in 2017 as part of the LEGO City Jungle Explorers subtheme, was designed to capture the spirit of expedition and scientific discovery in a dense tropical environment. This set was conceived as a modular play experience, featuring a large transport truck that opens to reveal a mobile research station, accompanied by a small waterfall build and a crocodile figure. The design reflects a shift in the City theme toward diverse biomes, moving away from standard urban infrastructure to emphasize adventure-driven narratives for younger builders.

The development of the Jungle Explorers line focused on interactive play elements, such as the translucent blue pieces representing water and the inclusion of specialized tools for the minifigure researchers. Upon its release, the set was received as a comprehensive addition to the City range, offering a self-contained play set that combined vehicle construction with environmental storytelling. Its design language remains consistent with the wider LEGO City aesthetic, prioritizing clear building techniques and vibrant colors to appeal to its target demographic.
