Where it came from
The Kraata were released in 2003 as part of the Bionicle line, serving as the biological essence of the villainous Rahkshi. Designed to be sold in blind-packaged canisters, these small, slug-like creatures represented the core power source of the Rahkshi armor, allowing for significant customization and collectibility. Their introduction was a strategic move by the design team at Lego to expand the Bionicle lore, emphasizing the organic and parasitic nature of the Makuta's creations.
The design of the Kraata features a modular, flexible plastic form that could be inserted into the back of any of the six Rahkshi sets. These figures were produced in eight distinct stages of power and a variety of color variations, creating a high level of rarity that encouraged trading among fans. Upon their release, they were well-received as an innovative accessory that bridged the gap between the building experience and the deeper narrative elements of the Bionicle universe.
