Where it came from
LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge was released in 2001 as the sequel to the highly successful 1997 game LEGO Island. Developed by Silicon Dreams Studio and published by LEGO Software, the game was designed to expand the open-world mechanics of its predecessor while introducing a more structured narrative involving the escape of the antagonist, the Brickster. The title was aimed at children and utilized a mix of exploration, minigames, and character-driven interactions, reflecting the company’s push into the interactive entertainment market at the turn of the millennium.
The game’s aesthetic and design were deeply integrated with the LEGO System of the time, featuring environments that mirrored physical playsets available in the early 2000s. While the reception was mixed due to technical performance issues common to the era's software, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for many who grew up with early PC gaming. The set 5775-1 was a promotional or bundled release that facilitated access to the game, serving as a piece of cross-media marketing that linked digital play experiences with physical LEGO brand identity.
