Where it came from
Released in 2013 as part of the LEGO Creative line, set 10655 Monster Trucks was designed to offer builders a versatile entry point into the hobby. The set was conceived during a period when LEGO sought to broaden its appeal by focusing on open-ended building experiences that emphasized imagination over strict adherence to complex, licensed instruction sets.
The design of the trucks features a rudimentary, functional aesthetic that prioritizes durability and playability. By utilizing a mix of basic bricks and specialty wheel components, the set allowed younger builders to customize their own vehicles. While not part of a high-end collector series, it was well-received by parents and educators as a tactile, introductory kit for developing structural intuition and mechanical creativity.
