LEGO Star Wars: Character Encyclopedia

Released in 2011 by DK Publishing, this character encyclopedia was designed to serve as a comprehensive visual guide for the expansive LEGO Star Wars universe. It was produced to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the collaboration between the LEGO Group and Lucasfilm, aiming to catalog the evolution of the various minifigures released since the theme began in 1999. The editorial team focused on providing high-quality photography and detailed biographical snippets for every character, catering to both younger builders and adult collectors interested in the cataloging of set history.

The book is widely noted by enthusiasts for the inclusion of an exclusive Han Solo minifigure, which was crafted specifically to match the attire worn during the Medal Ceremony at the end of A New Hope. The design approach prioritizes a clean, archival aesthetic, organizing characters by set or narrative relevance to make the information easily accessible. Upon its release, it was well-received for its durable binding and status as a definitive reference tool for identifying specific minifigure variants that had become increasingly difficult to distinguish due to years of incremental design updates.
