Where it came from
Released in 1996, the LEGO World of Bricks set 6112-1 served as a versatile supplement to the broader LEGO System. Designed to provide builders with a broad palette of essential elements rather than a specific model, the set focused on utility and creative freedom. It was part of an era where LEGO emphasized open-ended building, catering to enthusiasts who required bulk components to expand their existing cityscapes or custom projects.
The design of the set reflects the classic aesthetic of mid-1990s LEGO, featuring a standard color selection intended to maximize compatibility with the core themes of the time, such as Town and Space. While it lacked the narrative-driven focus of contemporary licensed themes, it was well-received by the community for its high piece count and practical utility, effectively functioning as a foundational resource pack for the growing hobbyist demographic.
