Where it came from
Released in the early 2000s under the LEGO Education banner, the 9612 Levers Set was developed as a specialized tool for classroom environments. Its primary purpose was to provide students with a tactile way to explore the principles of simple machines, specifically focusing on the mechanics of levers and fulcrums within a structured STEM learning context.
The set reflects the utilitarian design language of the era's educational products, favoring functionality and durability over aesthetic flair. It was designed to integrate seamlessly with standard LEGO System bricks, allowing educators to build complex demonstrations of mechanical advantage. While it lacks the narrative elements of consumer-facing themes, it remains highly regarded by collectors of functional LEGO sets for its straightforward approach to demonstrating foundational physics.
