Where it came from
The Lion Costume minifigure, identified as part of the series 71051-11, was originally released as a chase character within the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 15. Launched in early 2016, this series sought to provide unique, thematic characters that expanded beyond traditional licensed sets, allowing the company to experiment with specialized molded elements like the lion's head and tail piece.
The design was intended to capture a whimsical, theatrical quality, echoing classic mascot-style costumes that have appeared in various forms throughout the brand's history. The figure features detailed printing on the torso and legs to represent a fabric bodysuit, while the headgear was praised by the community for its level of detail and characterful expression, securing its status as one of the more sought-after additions to the collectible range.
