Where it came from
The Little Robots Stripy plush was released in the early 2000s as part of the merchandising line for the BBC children's television series Little Robots. The show, which utilized stop-motion animation, was created by Cosgrove Hall Films based on the books by Mike Brown. The character Stripy was designed to reflect the show's aesthetic of a quirky, scrap-metal world inhabited by small, distinctively shaped robots who lived in a junkyard.
This plush toy was produced to capture the friendly, tactile nature of the animated characters, emphasizing the unique, hand-crafted aesthetic championed by the production team. While the series gained a dedicated following among young viewers, the merchandise was intended to bring the imaginative, cooperative themes of the show into the home, focusing on recognizable features like Stripy's colorful pattern and gentle, expressive face.
