Where it came from
The Little Robots Stripy plush was released as part of a line of merchandise tied to the CBeebies animated television series, which first aired in the early 2000s. Based on the picture books by Mike Brownlow, the show depicted a community of robots living on a scrap metal planet. The characters were designed to be tactile and gentle, with the plush toys intended to replicate the stop-motion aesthetic of the show's animation style for a younger audience.
This specific mini plush, identified under the manufacturer code 7462-1, represents the character Stripy, known for his distinctive patterned exterior. The design prioritized soft materials to ensure the item was suitable for toddlers, maintaining the simplified, rounded shapes that characterized the show's CGI models. Upon release, the merchandise was well-received by fans of the series, serving as a primary way for children to engage with the show's emphasis on friendship and problem-solving through play.
