Where it came from
The LEGO Living Room set 264-1 was released in 1974 as part of the Homemaker series, an early effort by the LEGO Group to expand into domestic and interior-focused designs. This set, like others in the line, utilized larger-scale furniture pieces and printed elements to mimic real-world household items, representing a significant shift from the purely abstract or architectural themes that dominated the brand in its first two decades.
The design of the 264-1 Living Room prioritized a modular, interactive approach to play, featuring a sofa, coffee table, and television set. Created during an era when the company was experimenting with scale and narrative-driven play, the set is often remembered by collectors for its iconic 1970s aesthetic and its place in the history of LEGO's efforts to cultivate diverse play patterns beyond traditional building.
