Where it came from
Released in 2021 as a promotional item, this set consists of a miniature, brick-built version of the iconic Dao blade wielded by Lloyd Garmadon from the LEGO Ninjago theme. The piece was designed to serve as a collectible accessory for fans of the long-running series, which explores the journeys of ninja warriors defending Ninjago City. Its creation coincided with efforts to celebrate the legacy of the Ninjago franchise, offering a stylized, physical representation of the character's signature weapon.
The design utilizes standard LEGO elements to approximate the curved geometry of a traditional Chinese dao. By focusing on the distinctive hilt and blade silhouette associated with Lloyd, the set captures the aesthetic language established by the Ninjago animation. While intended primarily as a display piece rather than a functional tool for minifigures, it was well-received by collectors who appreciate the series' world-building and the integration of traditional martial arts themes into the LEGO product line.
