Where it came from
Lloyd's Elemental Power Mech (71817-1) was released by the LEGO Group as part of the Ninjago Dragons Rising theme, a soft reboot of the long-running Ninjago franchise. Launched to expand the roster of mechs available to the show's core protagonists, the set reflects the series' evolving aesthetic, which emphasizes fluid movement and integrated elemental themes. The design features a distinct color palette centered on green and gold to represent Lloyd Garmadon, the show's green ninja, while incorporating articulated joints for dynamic display possibilities.
The set was conceived as a mid-range entry in the Ninjago line, balancing accessibility for younger builders with the intricate building techniques valued by adult fans. It was designed to function both as an action figure for play and a display piece, utilizing stylized armor plating and translucent elements to mimic energy effects. Upon its release, it was well received for its stability and the inclusion of updated minifigure designs that align with the refreshed character appearances introduced in the Dragons Rising narrative arc.
