Where it came from
The Mario Götze figure is part of the LEGO DFB Minifigure Series (71014), released in 2016 to coincide with the German national football team's participation in UEFA Euro 2016. The set was a collaboration between LEGO and the German Football Association, featuring the squad that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This specific figure represents Mario Götze, who famously scored the winning goal in the 2014 final against Argentina.
The figures were designed by the LEGO Group to capture the distinct kits of the German national team, complete with detailed printing on the torsos and legs to reflect the official jerseys. The series was released as a 'blind bag' collection, making individual figures like Götze highly sought after by collectors and football fans alike. Upon release, the set was praised for its level of detail and remains a significant piece of crossover memorabilia between sports culture and toy collecting.
