Where it came from
Released in 2019 as part of the LEGO DUPLO Disney sub-theme, Mickey’s Vacation House (10889-1) was designed specifically for younger children, typically aged two to five. The set reflects the brand’s enduring collaboration with Disney, aimed at creating accessible, modular building experiences that encourage developmental play through familiar character-led narratives.
The design focuses on modularity, featuring three distinct buildable sections that allow children to rearrange the vacation home to simulate different play scenarios. The set includes classic LEGO DUPLO figures of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto, intentionally stylized with bright, primary colors and chunky, rounded bricks designed to be safe and manageable for smaller hands. Upon release, it was well-received by parents and educators as a staple of the preschool toy market, praised for its durability and its integration of popular characters into an open-ended construction format.
