Where it came from
Released in 2017 as part of the Disney Princess theme, the Moana’s Island Adventure set, numbered 41149-1, was created to coincide with the global theatrical release of Disney’s feature film Moana. The set was designed to capture the narrative heart of the film, focusing on the protagonist's home life on Motunui. It includes a mini-doll figure of Moana, a figure of the pig Pua, and an buildable cave feature, reflecting the film's emphasis on island exploration and ancestral discovery.
The aesthetic of the set draws heavily from the vibrant, tropical visual language established in the film, utilizing a color palette of teals, tans, and bright accents to evoke a Pacific island environment. As one of the introductory sets for this specific Disney sub-line, it was well-received by fans for its inclusion of key character figures and its accessible, play-focused construction. The design team focused on creating a functional, compact playset that allowed children to reenact scenes such as Moana’s quest to find the heart of Te Fiti.
