Where it came from
The Mobile TV Studio, released under the set number 6661 in 1988, serves as a quintessential example of the late eighties 'Town' aesthetic. Developed during a period when the brand was diversifying its small-box promotional sets, this model was designed to represent the essential infrastructure of a media crew. It captures the charm of its era by featuring a compact van equipped with an antenna and a small satellite dish, emphasizing the theme of field broadcasting long before the digital age.
The design prioritizes playability within a limited brick count, focusing on the recognizable silhouette of a news van rather than complex engineering. Like many sets in the 6661 series, the model relies on printed slope bricks and a single minifigure technician to convey its purpose. It was well-received by hobbyists for its accessibility and ability to integrate seamlessly into existing city layouts, eventually becoming a nostalgic touchstone for collectors who appreciate the simplicity and color palette characteristic of the 1980s catalog.
