Where it came from
Monastery Training, released in 2019 as set 70680-1, belongs to the LEGO Ninjago Legacy subtheme. This line was designed to celebrate the long-running franchise by reimagining and updating iconic scenes, vehicles, and locations from the show's earlier seasons. The set was conceived as an accessible entry point for new fans, offering a compact build that captures the essence of the ninja training environment at the Monastery of Spinjitzu.
The design of the set focuses on modularity and playability, featuring a buildable training station, a wall section, and a weapon rack. It was illustrated and structured to highlight the core mechanics of Spinjitzu, featuring two minifigures of Kai and Nya in their classic-inspired legacy outfits. Upon release, the set was well-received by the collector community for its value and the inclusion of specific, hard-to-find accessory elements, serving as a nostalgic nod to the series' origins.
