Where it came from
Released by the Lego Group in 2022 as part of the Duplo theme, this set was designed specifically for toddlers aged 18 months and older. It features a pair of buildable animals and a play ring, emphasizing developmental motor skills and sensory play through the inclusion of sound bricks that mimic animal noises. The set reflects the broader Duplo design philosophy of using large, durable bricks that are easy for small hands to grasp while introducing foundational concepts like caretaking and animal identification.
The design of the 'My First' series focuses on simplicity and open-ended play rather than rigid building instructions, encouraging children to experiment with different configurations. By incorporating sound elements, Lego aimed to add a layer of interactive feedback to the construction experience. The set was met with positive reception from the parenting community for its focus on early childhood education, aligning with the brand’s longstanding goal of combining tactile learning with familiar, comforting themes.
