Ninjago Magnet Set

The LEGO Ninjago Magnet Set, identified as 853404-1, was released in 2013 as part of a recurring line of accessory packs designed to capitalize on the immense popularity of the Ninjago theme. These magnet sets were a staple of the LEGO brand during the early 2010s, created to provide fans with portable, displayable versions of their favorite minifigures mounted on flat, magnetic bases. By this period, Ninjago had firmly established itself as a cultural phenomenon, evolving from a simple building set into an expansive multimedia franchise, which necessitated the production of small-scale merchandise that could easily complement a school locker or refrigerator.

The design of this specific set reflects the aesthetic of the Ninjago: Rebooted era, focusing on the core ninja characters. These sets were conceptualized by the LEGO design team to serve as an accessible entry point for younger collectors, allowing them to acquire key characters without purchasing larger, more expensive vehicle or structure sets. While these items were primarily marketed toward children for their utility as functional magnets, they were received by the broader adult collector community as a convenient way to amass character rosters and preserve minifigures in a ready-to-display format.
