Where it came from
The Ninjago Time Blade Claw, released as part of the 2017 product line under set number 853688-1, was created as a roleplay accessory intended to immerse fans in the Hands of Time story arc. This narrative period featured the Time Twins, Acronix and Krux, and centered on the pursuit of four elemental blades capable of controlling the flow of time. The design mimics the aesthetic of the in-universe artifacts, utilizing molded plastic to replicate a jagged, metallic appearance consistent with the show's weaponry.
The design philosophy behind this accessory focused on accessibility and durability for younger fans, prioritizing a lightweight build that allowed for active play. It represents the broader LEGO approach to merchandise that bridges the gap between building sets and interactive play. Upon release, it served as a companion piece to the larger construction sets of the wave, receiving recognition from the collector community as a dedicated physical representation of the show's central plot devices.
