Where it came from
The 853111 Ninjago Weapons Set was released in 2011 as part of the initial wave of the LEGO Ninjago theme. Designed to support the launch of the Spinjitzu-themed line, this accessory pack provided fans with a variety of classic weapons, including katanas, spears, and scythes, meant to equip the core ninja characters. It was developed to complement the early dragon and temple sets, offering collectors a way to expand their arsenals beyond the limited weaponry included in the standard retail kits.
The inclusion of a lenticular card added a tactile element to the set, reflecting the mid-2010s trend of incorporating interactive collectible cards into toy themes to deepen brand engagement. The design focused on the aesthetic of the original 'Masters of Spinjitzu' era, utilizing a stark, functional look that prioritized playability. While it was a supplementary release rather than a major build, it remains a nostalgic touchstone for early Ninjago collectors who appreciated the effort to provide character-specific accessories during the theme's formative year.
