Where it came from
The Skeleton Chopper was released in 2011 as part of the inaugural wave of the LEGO Ninjago theme. This set was designed to introduce the primary conflict of the theme's first year, pitting the ninja protagonists against the skeletal army of Lord Garmadon. It reflects the early aesthetic of the line, which combined traditional Eastern iconography with imaginative, fantasy-driven mechanical vehicles.
The model features a motorcycle built with bone-themed elements and skull motifs, driven by Chopov, a black-clad skeleton warrior. It was intended as a lower-cost entry point for children to engage with the Ninjago storyline. Upon release, the set was well-received by fans for its unique color palette and the inclusion of the then-novel skeleton minifigure design, which remains a notable example of early Ninjago character construction.
