Where it came from
Released in 1978, the Nursery set 297-1 emerged during a formative period for the LEGO Group as they expanded their range of town-themed accessories. Designed to supplement the burgeoning 1:87 scale building environment, this set provided a domestic interior element that reflected the company's shift toward more relatable, everyday human scenarios within their minifigure-compatible product lines.
The set was part of an era focused on minimalist design and modular play, relying on simple structural components and a small selection of specialized pieces to represent domestic life. It was well-received by contemporary collectors for its ability to add functional detail to larger town layouts, remaining a nostalgic example of the foundational simplicity that characterized late-1970s LEGO toy design.
