Police Action

Released in 1978, the Police Action set (3656-1) emerged during a transitional period for Playmobil as the toy line began to expand its range of historical and contemporary occupational themes. Designed as part of the early city life series, the set was intended to offer children a realistic role-play experience centered on municipal services. The design utilized the company’s signature 7.5cm figure scale, focusing on modularity and the integration of small, themed accessories that defined the brand's aesthetic during the late 1970s.

The development of the Police Action set reflected the company's commitment to durability and playability, featuring the iconic unpainted, stationary-arm figures that characterized the era. Hans Beck, the creator of Playmobil, emphasized sets that allowed for open-ended storytelling, and the police theme became one of the most enduring pillars of the product line. While the set was a standard offering rather than a limited edition, it was well-received by European markets for its simplicity and the tactile quality of its components, establishing the blue-clad officer archetype that would persist in the brand's catalogue for decades.
