Where it came from
The LEGO City Police Boat (set 60456-1) was released in 2025 as part of the long-running LEGO City theme, which has served as a staple of the company's portfolio since its debut in 2005. This set is designed to expand the play-ready police sub-theme, focusing on aquatic law enforcement scenarios. It represents the iterative design process common in the City line, where designers strive to balance realistic maritime aesthetics with playability features like integrated launchers and hull design suitable for water play.
The development of this set followed the established LEGO City design language, emphasizing bright colors, modular accessories, and ease of assembly for younger builders. The design team focused on creating a sturdy vessel that fits within the current scale of the City theme, ensuring it remains compatible with the various docks, harbors, and city-building sets released concurrently. Upon its release, it was positioned as a quintessential entry-level aquatic vehicle, intended to round out urban police display setups.
