Where it came from
The 60047 Police Station was released in 2014 as the flagship set of the Lego City sub-theme. Designed to anchor the town-building experience, the set featured a modular-style headquarters complete with a jail cell, a control tower, and multiple emergency response vehicles, including a police car, a prisoner transport van, and a helicopter. It followed a long tradition of police stations within the City line, focusing on playability through features like a functioning garage door and an escape hatch for the included criminal minifigures.
The design emphasized the classic red and blue aesthetic of the Lego City emergency services, balancing structural stability with interactive elements for younger builders. Upon its release, it was well-received by the community for its detailed interior and the variety of play functions it provided. It represents a significant iteration of the theme's core police presence, reflecting the brand's approach to updating essential play sets with modern building techniques and more refined vehicle chassis designs.
