Where it came from
The 5002115-1 set, released in 2014, is a promotional LEGO polybag featuring a minifigure of the Star Wars character TC-4. This protocol droid is a deep-cut inclusion in the Star Wars universe, appearing briefly in The Phantom Menace, and this minifigure was distributed primarily as a promotional gift with qualifying purchases during the annual May the Fourth event at official retail locations and online shops.
The design of the minifigure follows the standard aesthetic established for the Star Wars theme, utilizing the established protocol droid mold but featuring unique printing to differentiate the character from the more common C-3PO. The release was well-received by completionist collectors who prioritize obscure characters, as it provided a rare opportunity to acquire a figure that would likely not see a standard retail release in a larger playset.
