Where it came from
This set is part of a series of educational, activity-focused books and model kits published by Scholastic, designed to introduce children to the mechanics of automotive design through hands-on construction. Produced in the early 2020s, the collection emerged as part of a broader push to integrate tactile learning with STEM-aligned themes, offering young readers a way to engage with the physics of speed and movement by building small-scale replicas.
The design emphasizes simplicity and accessibility, prioritizing durable materials that are easy for young enthusiasts to assemble. By focusing on the visual language of competitive racing, the kit aims to demystify engineering concepts such as aerodynamics and propulsion. Upon release, the set was noted by educators and parents for successfully bridging the gap between recreational play and introductory mechanical concepts, becoming a staple in many home libraries.
