Where it came from
Released in 2021 as part of the LEGO Duplo theme, the 10947 Race Cars set was designed to introduce younger children to the concept of speed and mechanics through building. LEGO’s design philosophy for the Duplo range focuses on larger, chunkier bricks that are easier for toddler hands to manipulate, ensuring that complex themes like motorsport are accessible and safe for developmental play.
The set features two pull-back race cars and various accessories like a trophy and starting flags, emphasizing action-oriented play patterns. Designed to encourage fine motor skills and open-ended storytelling, the set received positive feedback for its simplicity and the inclusion of push-and-go functionality, which allows children to experience mechanical motion without the need for batteries.
