Where it came from
Released in 1987 as part of the LEGO Town theme—the predecessor to the modern City line—the 2064 Rescue Plane captures the mid-eighties aesthetic of emergency services in modular play. Designed during a period when LEGO was refining its focus on distinct sub-themes like airport and rescue operations, the set offered a compact, functional vehicle model that emphasized playability and basic mechanical building techniques.
The set features a classic white and red color scheme with iconic blue translucent cockpit glass, reflecting the design language of the era's Airport sub-theme. While not as complex as contemporary aviation sets, it was well-regarded by collectors for its straightforward construction and its integration with other Town-scale buildings and vehicles, serving as an accessible entry point for children interested in rescue-themed scenarios.
