Where it came from
The LEGO Duplo Road Construction set, released under the 5652 model number, was part of a larger initiative to provide early childhood learners with tactile tools that simulate real-world infrastructure and engineering. Designed for children ages two to five, the set focuses on the foundational concepts of city planning and physical labor, mirroring the common sights of urban development that young children often observe in their daily environments.
The aesthetic of this set follows the classic Duplo design language, prioritizing large, rounded, and brightly colored components that are safe for small hands to manipulate. By including figures in construction gear and vehicle components, the designers aimed to encourage role-playing and motor skill development. The set was well-received by parents and educators for its durability and its ability to integrate seamlessly with other sets in the Duplo town-themed collection, emphasizing open-ended play rather than rigid structural completion.
